Fall Leaf NEWS: RHG TAKES HIGHEST HONOR FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT

The Borgata Hotel Wins RHG the
Most Prestigious JUDGES Award

When considering floral and retail planter designs RHG designers were influenced by the season. During the summer months tropical looks adorned the Borgata, such as a dramatic orchid display, which used shades of purple and green. During the winter months the displays reflected the changing holidays. During Thanksgiving a 5-ft-long Cornucopia with live and dried materials was constructed in the lobby. "Our employees had a fun day in the pumpkin patch picking pumpkins for the display," said Raimondi.

HO-HO-KUS, NJ, February 3, 2005 -- Raimondi Horticultural Group is proud to announce that it is the recipient of PLANET's (formerly The Associated Landscape Contractors of America) Highest Honor, the prestigious PLANET Interior Environmental Improvement Judges' Award for its entry "Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa." The distinguished judging panel of the 2004 interior awards program collectively selected this project for special recognition because of its unique and spectacular qualities. This rare award is only bestowed if all of the judges unanimously agreed that the project deserved recognition well beyond the top Grand award. The honor was announced Friday, January 21st during PLANET'S Tropical Plant Industry Expo Awards Reception in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa boasts over 2000 rooms, stands 43 stories tall and includes 11 restaurants, spa, salon, pool, event center and retail shopping area. "Our firms challenge was to provide and recommend all Interior landscapers, Botanical sculptures, Holiday & Seasonal displays throughout various areas of the facility" states Chris Raimondi, CLP and owner of Raimondi Horticultural Group. He continues "We changed out over 18 seasonal floral displays in the Retail Piazza Area, lasting two to three weeks, capturing exciting, novel themes."

CONSTRUCTING AND MAINTAINING THE GARDENS From the beginning of the project RHG designers were presented with unusual and challenging details. "Before we submitted a proposal, the client showed us a video clip of what the new facility would look like. The presentation conveyed to us what type of experience the client wanted to give its hotel and casino guests. Borgata's motto is 'come to your happy place,' and to successfully bid the project, we had to interpret and weave this theme into the landscape design. Our proposal included a video presentation that showed how our design team would accomplish this," Raimondi continued. RHG took on the project six months prior to opening, and during installation crews worked off hours to facilitate access to loading docks and elevators, working from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Installations were placed in interior gardens throughout the hotel, casino, and pool areas; along with displays in the executive suites located on every other floor. The change schedule was determined in part by the client's desire to maintain a different look and a casino environment where a lack of natural light affected the choice of plant material and its longevity."
